Why we use certain options & not others.
Argentina (where I live) suffers from an economy as stable as a rusty bucking-bronco in a derelict amusement park, and where the rules have changed every time we get up in the morning. Our options are limited (to say the least) as far as accepting international payments are concerned, monitored (and even frozen) by government agencies, and even more limited (and more frozen) when acting as a non-business entity (such as yours truly).
After more than 2 years of research into this, MoonPay Commerce is our chosen payment provider because it opens the doors. While they operate mainly with crypto, you can also pay with debit and credit cards, without having to touch crypto at all. All that’s needed is an email.
Things in niche groups (such as ours) are always priced for niche economic brackets, and can actually end up excluding people who might benefit from it, but can’t afford it. I know this because I’ve been there many times before. But our rediculously low prices make it available to anyone who has an internet connection, and some spare change.
Every publication is priced at just $1.25
See The Fedup Experience for details on all this.
We accept bank transfers (in certain currencies). Still one of the safest methods for international payments, but the process from payment to receiving your Fedup publication isn’t automated, it might take a long time (up to a week, or even longer), there may be hidden fees, and some banks may even disallow the purchase.
Should you wish to donate to Fedup Sheep, then (presently) we have a USDC option or via PayPal (just remember that because I live n Argentina, PayPal takes $0.49 + 5.5% + 5-7% conversion fees, should there be any.)
MoonPay Commerce opens doors… but they do work with conventional payment methods also and although they operate in 160 countries, they are obliged (by law) to not operate with certain countries. Hence, under such circumstances, Fedup Sheep offers the possibility to purchase from us with ZCash.
See The Fedup Privacy Thingy for our stance on privacy.
In other words, anyone can purchase from Fedup Sheep regardless of what corporations or my, your, or someone else’s, government says. At least for now. Should this change, we will also adopt other methods that will inevitably be developed by those cleaver people who value their privacy and financial independence.
Thanx for reading this.
